What Utah Fits All covers

Utah covers a broad set, but caps them hard — and after the first-year audit, several once-approved buys are now banned outright. The reimbursement paperwork is the strictest in the book.

The parts that catch people out

None of these mean “not allowed” — they’re the caps, exclusions, and fine print inside categories that otherwise qualify. Click any one to read why.

  • The caps are real, and esadesk can't check them

After-school 20%, PE 20%, transportation $750/year, devices $1,500 each, cameras $500, headphones $200. These need spend-by-category math the checker doesn't do — you have to watch them.

  • Now banned after the 2024-25 audit

Ski passes, playground equipment, clothing, out-of-state/international trips, and furniture like a $2,000 bookshelf were flagged 'wasteful' and banned for 2025-26 — even though some were approved the year before.

  • One file, no exceptions

Reimbursements take exactly one uploaded document — esadesk merges your invoice and the proof of payment into a single file. Handwritten receipts and bank-statements-as-the-receipt are refused.

  • Price it within ~10% of a comparable item

Odyssey denies a purchase priced more than 10% above a comparable Marketplace item.

  • Running under a court casecontested

A constitutional challenge is pending; an adverse ruling is stayed while the state supreme court reviews it. The program is paying in the meantime.
